How our recruitment process works

From job brief to first day in three steps

01

Brief us on the role

A 20-minute call to understand the position, pay range, location and the kind of person who’ll stay. We confirm the fee in writing before any search begins.

02

We source, screen and shortlist

Our sourcing team works Canadian job boards, the group’s 7,000-candidate database and a global talent pool, then runs skills checks, references and right-to-work verification.

03

You interview. We onboard.

Choose your hire. We handle the offer, employment paperwork and 90 days of check-ins — and replace at no charge if they leave inside the guarantee window.

Why Canadian employers choose us

A licensed Ontario recruiter with a global sourcing team

53% of Canadian SMEs say labour shortages are holding back growth (CFIB). We built VBC North to close that gap: Canadian compliance and accountability in front, a three-continent delivery team behind it — so you get agency-grade recruiting at a fee that makes sense.

Licensed Ontario recruiter

Licensed under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act recruiter licensing regime — a legal requirement for agencies since July 2024.

Transparent recruitment fees

A flat 15% contingency fee against a 20–25% market norm, confirmed in writing before the search starts. No retainers for standard roles.

Global sourcing, Canadian standards

Candidates sourced in Canada and worldwide, screened to Canadian employment, right-to-work and LMIA requirements.

Guaranteed outcomes

90-day free replacement on every permanent placement and a 30-day satisfaction window on every virtual assistant.

Frequently asked questions

Questions Canadian employers ask us

How much does a recruitment agency charge in Canada?

Most Canadian agencies charge a contingency fee of 15–25% of the candidate’s first-year salary, paid only when a hire starts; retained executive search runs 20–35% in instalments. VBC North charges a flat 15% for standard permanent roles with a $4,500 minimum, confirmed in writing before we begin.

What is your replacement guarantee?

If a permanent placement leaves or is let go within 90 days of their start date, we replace them at no additional fee. Virtual assistants come with a free replacement and a 30-day satisfaction window.

How much does a virtual assistant cost in Canada?

A Canada-based assistant typically bills $25–45 per hour. VBC North’s managed virtual assistants start at $799/month for 80 hours and $1,299/month for 160 hours — dedicated to you, working EST or PST hours, with an account manager included.

Do you recruit temporary foreign workers or handle LMIA roles?

Yes, for eligible roles. Under our Ontario recruiter licence we recruit foreign nationals for positions paid at or above Ontario’s median hourly wage, and we never charge candidates a fee. We can source LMIA-ready candidates and work alongside your immigration counsel; we don’t provide legal advice.

Which cities and provinces do you serve?

We’re based in the Greater Toronto Area and recruit across Ontario — including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan and Ottawa — as well as Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Montréal. Virtual assistants are available to any Canadian business.
